Laura Kodaka

Course Developer

Laura Kodaka is pursuing Mechatronics Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology – UTEC in Lima, Peru. She is well versed with several programming paradigms and languages and has experience in the fields of robotics and electronics. She is an expert of breaking down complex topics into digestible chunks for people of all ages.

Laura believes that education is what empowers and enables people, regardless of where they come from or who they are. By bringing access to education to people around the world, especially those who are currently excluded from it the most, we’re, at the same time, helping reduce most of their other problems and inequalities as well. Being able to teach people of all ages that even the most complex topics can be made simple. Knowledge can be didactic, fun, easy to digest for anyone and still be complete.

When Laura was very young, she hated everything about maths. However, one day, her dad taught her what she needed to know in a way unlike the one we’re used to from school. She made that ability her own, and that is what she wants to give back to everyone else. “I love the career I am in now, and I wouldn’t be here without any of that.”, says Laura. She realizes that the synthesis and abstraction of knowledge is useful not just within the context of hard sciences and engineering, but also when facing everyday life or social challenges.

When asked about her take on the future of education, Laura says,”It is important that people of all ages (and especially children) realise how important it is to learn how to use information technology, because tomorrow those will be the building blocks for all of society.

People having more access to computers and the Internet means that more students will be able to not only receive their classes remotely, but they will also be able to create their own meaningful solutions for real world problems within these digital environments.

Traditional brick-and-mortar education may not be completely phased out, but technological- or computer-oriented thinking and learning for certain will be what will make true innovators and mold breakers stand out in all disciplines.”

Laura brings to 1010 coding her desire to provide education-for-all and her wide experience of teaching programming, robotics, and animation to kids.
