Course Developer

I’ve enjoyed helping and teaching others since I was in elementary school. I felt as an odd one out for enjoying maths, but I realized that if I dedicated time to teaching people around me, they would need to struggle considerably less and could spend more time doing things that are useful or that they found enjoyable. Ever since then, I’ve taken part in tutoring and peer mentoring programs in high school and university. I’m also leader of the UTEC IEEE Circuits and Systems chapter, where Electrical Engineering students meet up and develop research projects and workshops to be shared with the world. This is also a place for senior students to help their fellow freshmen and sophomores, so that they get proper career guidance and can get to know better the habits they need to develop and what they need to know to tackle specialization courses down the road.

I’m a Computer Engineer student from UTEC in Lima, Peru. Over the last two years, I have taken part (both as leader and as technical specialist) in several research projects involving electronics, mostly for culture & nature preservation efforts. I am well versed in several topics within my degree’s domain, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, signal processing, circuit design, cloud computing, data science, machine learning and algorithm optimization. I also have plenty of experience in several programming languages, including Python, C, C++, R, HTML/PHP, JavaScript, MATLAB, VBA, and in software platforms, such as Linux, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.

Currently, I am working for a multinational mining company based in the UK, under the Engineering R&D department. Our team is responsible for creating innovative solutions that can help improve the efficiency of mining processes, both in plants and in field exploration.

The reason I am interested in helping in 1010 Coding is that I’m always thankful for the people who stood behind my own education and helped me overcome all the difficulties I’ve faced in my academic career. I firmly believe that the main reason I’ve achieved what I have today is that I had great instructors who shaped my values and my abilities from the very start. I want other people (especially kids) to experience the same treatment, so they can be prepared for the future, so they hold their own weight in their careers and so they can live thankful for what they got. This way, we’re spreading not only knowledge but also care for each other in our society.
