1010 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
Ever heard the saying, “most of the world’s talents and potential are in the cemeteries and burial grounds”
Chances are that things will remain that way if no actionable plan takes place. Changing that narrative or at least swinging the odds in a different direction by a considerable margin will require intentional and meaningful steps by making sure that we identify, mine, process and deliver talents in this world while they are still alive, even more so, when they are young.
1010 coding is presenting a way to collaborate with you to unearth and refine potentials from across all economic groups around the country by empowering them in areas of access to funding for education and access to internet, that is, ensure that students have access to continual learning, in and out of classrooms. With our partnership with Scholarship Endowment Fund (SEF), beneficiaries will be fully funded to attend physical and organised classes in distinguished learning environments. They will also be afforded the opportunity to take their research and learning outside of that environment with laptops and a stable internet that we will be providing for well rounded, independent, free thinking and widely exposed individuals who can then translate their knowledge to transform the world around them and extend it for worldwide impact.
Putting Nigeria back on track as the undisputable giant of Africa will require all hands on deck and that’s why we at 1010 Coding are putting out our hands forward in collaboration with our subscribers to give back 5% of profits from every course purchased to the Scholarship Endowment Fund (SEF) to make sure potential in the Nigerian child is realized.
Currently, less than 10% of African students are enrolled in higher education, with less than 30% of those pursuing post-secondary education majoring in science, medicine, information and communications technology, and engineering. The experience of China, as well as other Asian countries, in developing scientific and technological competence provides valuable lessons that might be utilized throughout Africa.
China’s phenomenal economic growth has gotten a lot of attention in the media. The significant achievements China has achieved in education in a very short period of time, as well as its ambitious ambitions for the future, are far less well recognized but equally amazing. Over the last two decades, China has nearly eradicated illiteracy among its 1.3 billion citizens, expanded nine years of basic education across its vast territories, built elite high schools with world-class math and science standards, and begun teaching English as a second language from third grade onwards; It increased the number of students enrolled in higher education from 1.4 percent of the population in 1978 to 20% now. China has an ambitious long-term vision for investing in education, with the goal of lifting its youth out of poverty and assisting them in driving the country’s economy.
These are some of the issues that have been identified as Nigeria’s educational system’s issues:
- Methodologies for promoting active learning and teaching
- Curriculum and teaching materials
- Students that are unmotivated
- Unprepared teachers
- Ignorance of dual-use difficulties in current education/training programs
- Failure to build models to stimulate and support education/training
- Failure of scientific organizations to promote and sustain dual-use concerns
- The scientific community is not involved in dual-use education (faculty and institutional leaders are not involved).
As a company that is constantly in hot pursuit of giving back and growing Nigeria, we know that education is an uncontestable factor in facilitating economic growth and a major pillar in building sustainable and transferrable wealth of any nation and we have addressed all these issues is planning and packaging of our programmes. To quote Joe Biden, President of one of the wealthiest nations in the world, “Any country that will out educate us will out compete us” in response to a Wired Google Auto Complete Question on his plans for education. Taking this on as a healthy challenge and out competing one of history’s greatest economies isn’t a bad idea now, is it?
